It was a sad day when we found out about Don’s condition and a really bad day when I got the call he had passed away. Don was a great person with a big personality that everyone I knew loved and appreciated him. I met Don 43 years ago and we worked together at Burroughs and we became good friends. After we both moved on and away we lost touch and then 6 years ago we reconnected, not be design, at a SJU basketball
game and kept in touch since then. Our thoughts and prayers are with Ellen and their family. Rest in Peace DUCK.

Nancy and I were saddened to hear of Don's death. We met Don 45 years ago at SJU. Through the years we had many happy memories. Don was always in the middle of every activity - that was just the way he was. He left us too soon and we will miss him.

The shock of Don's passing will linger for a very long time because of the spirited, personable man that he was. A fond memory was one of our early meetings - at our children's engagement announcement. At that joyous occasion and at all future gatherings, Don displayed his energetic personality. Don had a presence at all get togethers - great conversationalist, always enthusiastic with interesting topics and his many stories that he brought to life. Don & I both supported St John's BB - his support was shared also with Georgetown and Villanova - but he balanced it perfectly. Don and I also enjoyed golf - both high handicappers. The difference - Don was the most social golfer, offering entertaining topics, some unique golf shots and great 19th hole conversation. However, Don's strength of character was most exhibited by his devotion to Ellen, his children, his grandchildren, his alma maters' (Xavier and SJU) and his country. Don' message at our children's rehearsal dinner will always ring true - "we are family". Don, you will be sorely missed. To reiterate Don's often-used toast - Slainte (Farewell).
