Obituary

Kenneth “Kenny” Joseph Comerford passed away peacefully on March 24th , 2026, at the age of 81 surrounded by his loving wife, Elisa, his sons Matthew and Nicholas, his daughter-in-law, Patricia and granddaughter, Ashlyn. Kenny left behind a life rooted in faith, family, and honor.

Born on July 10th, 1944, in the Bronx, New York, Kenny carried his Irish and American heritage with pride. He loved to tell stories of his childhood growing up in the Bronx and of his parents’ journey from Ireland, always with a smile and a joke. Kenny is predeceased by his parents, Nicholas Comerford and Mary Anne (McKeon) Comerford, older brother Greg, and brother-in-law Matthew Fogarty. He grew up with his older brother Greg and his twin sister (his wombmate), Eileen Reynolds (Bill Reynolds) of Wellington, FL. Together with his wife Elisa, he built a close-knit family he cherished most.

A graduate of Iona College, Kenny built a distinguished career working for the City of New York. He was also proud to have served in “his” United States Navy for 27 years as a Chief Petty Officer. Kenny approached both work and life with pride, honor and integrity.

Deeply devoted to his Catholic faith, Kenny was an active member in Saint Anne’s Parish and especially enjoyed helping those in need with his Knights of Columbus Council. Kenny’s faith was with him until the end and it was always his guiding light.

He married his beloved wife, Elisa Dolores Fogarty, on August 21st, 1971, and together they raised their family together in New Hyde Park, NY and Garden City, NY with cherished time spent in South Jamesport, NY, Florida, Saugerties, NY and several foreign and continental trips during retirement.

Regardless of where Kenny was or what he was doing with Elisa, he was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He took tremendous pride in his grandchildren, Aidan and Ashlyn. He followed their lives closely and was always eager to hear their stories and celebrate their accomplishments.

Kenny is survived by his devoted wife Elisa; his sons Matthew and Nicholas; his most loved and cherished grandchildren Aidan and Ashlyn; his daughter-in-law Patricia; his twin sister Eileen; his cousins John and Patricia; and his grand-dog Bailey.

Kenny lived a humble, faithful and honorable life Until we meet again, may God hold him in the palm of His hand.
Services will be held at the Church of Saint Anne at 10:00am on Wednesday, April 1st, 2026.
