Obituary

Adele Ellen Fialcowitz (nee McGreevey) passed peacefully on September 30, 2026 at her home at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. She was 97 years old.

Adele, also known as “Del” to friends, was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 13, 1929 to Adele and Robert McGreevey. She grew up on Brompton Road in Garden City, New York with her beloved brother Robert, graduated from Garden City High School and was a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church and a member of Cherry Valley Club for approximately 80 years. She loved Garden City and the many life-long friends that she made there.

Following her graduation from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., Adele worked as a clothing buyer for Sears Roebuck & Co. in New York City for several years. On October 10, 1964, she married Capt. Albert G. Fialcowitz, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage together until Albert passed on April 6, 2014.

Adele touched everyone she met with her kindness, generosity, wisdom, fun and humor.  She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed long walks, volunteering, rounds with her golf-buddies, deep-sea fishing, gardening, painting and meals with family and friends. Her lasagna and apple pie were second to none.

Adele is survived by her daughter Patricia (“Pattie”) and her son-in-law Bob Ranney, her son John and her daughter-in-law Maureen, and her five grandchildren, George Ranney, Henry Ranney, Adele Ranney, Michael Fialcowitz and Sean Fialcowitz. She is also survived by her brother Robert, her niece Mary Ellen Martin and her nephew Robert McGreevey.
