E. Patricia Dolan, died at her home in Garden City, NY on April 12, 2026 at 82 years old after a long and courageous fight. The love of Pat’s life was her family, past and present. Mom loved everything about her children Debbie, Maureen and her husband Mark, John and his wife Jocelyn, and Dan and his wife Ellen. Nana cherished her grandchildren, Blake, Savannah, Miles, Shane, Jayden, and Emelia. Patti treasured her cousins and extended family. She is also survived by her sister, Gean. She was predeceased in death by her father and mother, William and Edna Coleman, and brother, Bill, all of whom she adored.
Pat grew up in Hollis and attended St. Pascal’s High, where she made life long friends. She eventually moved to Garden City where she raised her 4 children. While raising her children, Pat earned a nursing degree. She was a registered nurse that many in town will remember as Mrs. D., the nurse at the Garden City High School. Later Pat became a Nurse Practitioner. Professor Dolan also taught nursing at Molloy and Adelphi Colleges. Pat relished in helping others.
Beyond her family, Pat had several other passions. She was a life long fan of Duke Snider and the Brooklyn Dodgers. On St. Patrick’s Day, Pat’s kitchen was filled with what seemed like a hundred Irish Soda Breads that she made for all she knew. After all it was one of her favorite days of the year. She loved playing thirty-one, kings in the corner, bridge, canasta, Mahjong, and any other game with her family and friends. Throughout her life, some of Pat’s most special times were spent sitting down chatting with friends over a cup of coffee or tea. Pat’s everlasting Catholic faith aided and guided her.
Pat loved to have fun. She was an active fan at all of her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, often the loudest voice in the stands. She had so much fun at one of her favorite places, the beach, especially her cabana at Sun and Surf Beach Club. Socializing with her friends brought Pat such joy. Living at the Wyndham was Pat’s dream.
Pat was a strong person and loyal friend. She helped innumerable people during her life, which was cut way too short. Whatever you called her, Mom, Nana, Pat, Patti, Mrs. D., or Professor Dolan, she was loved by many people and will be missed by them all.
