Fred G. Camp was born Frederick Gerard Acampora on February 28, 1924. He died peacefully at home in Garden City, New York on June 28, 2019. He was a World WarII Navy Veteran. On D Day, he went ashore at Omaha Beach in the third wave with Army Engineers, as a Navy medic to treat the wounded and dying. Thereafter, he served in the Pacific Theater. He was one of the Greatest Generation.
Fred G. Camp is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn Carol (Vitulli) Camp, children, Fred Peter Camp and Marilyn (Camp) Gormley, son-in-law, William F. Gormley, brother and sister-in-law, Peter A. Vitulli and Kathy Vitulli, and nephew, Dr. Peter A. Vitulli, Jr.
Fred G. Camp was a graduate of Xavier High School and St. John’s University. He was proud member of the American Legion, and past Commander of the William Bradford Turner Post in Garden City. He will be remembered as a loving husband and father, who lived a Christian life of loving God, family and Country.
