In Memory Of
James (Jim) Edward Mullooly , 91, of Garden City, NY passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. He is survived by his wife Peggy (nee Bligh).
He was father to six children: Margy (Bob) Hannan, Barbara (Kevin) Walsh, Laura (Paul) Giacini, Jim (Patti) Mullooly, Claire (Gene) Preston and Tom (Happy) Mullooly.
Grandfather to 17: Bill (Lindsy) Hannan, Dennis (Hillary) Hannan, Kerry Hannan (Andrew) Cauchi, Amanda Walsh (Kevin) Rice, Sam, Ben & Quinn Walsh, Erin & Ryan Giacini, Christopher, Sarah & Colin Mullooly, Geoff & Haley Preston, and Caroline, Ava, & Jack Mullooly.
Great grandfather to 5 plus: Garrett, Pat & Reese Hannan, and Lyla & Millie Hannan.
More than anything Jim loved Peggy and his children. He loved his faith and cherished his Friends of Bill. Jim was an avid gardener and loved to swim, walk, eat and all things Irish.
Jim was born November 6, 1928 in Brooklyn to Nell Woods and Bill Mullooly and raised in Freeport, NY. He is predeceased by his 5 siblings: Helen Shea, Bill Mullooly, Pat Mullooly, Jack Mullooly and Mary Rose Gigante. He attended Bishop Loughlin HS, USMMA at Kings Point, Hofstra University and Queens College. He served in the US Army during the Korean War stationed in Europe. He was a Nassau County patrolman and taught in the Uniondale school district for more than 30 years.
Jim will be remembered for his compassion for people, his warm smile and hearty laugh.
