Florence Kilroy Dieterich passed away on October 12 in her 93rd year. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years Albert. She leaves behind three sons, Dr Douglas Dieterich (Katherine), Kevin Dieterich and Keith Dieterich and two grandchildren James Dieterich (Danielle) and Ruth Robinson.
Mrs. Dieterich was a long-time resident of Garden City, moving here from Franklin Square in 1952. She was active in AAUW, Panhellenic and the Garden City Country Club. She was an avid and expert bridge player at the Garden City Casino and Cherry Valley Country Club and a strong swimmer at the Garden City pool and Lake George, as well as a recently retired tennis player. Florence was a very active member of Saint James Lutheran Church in Stewart Manor and at one time a council member. She was employed at Adelphi University for more than 30 years, where she received both B.A.A. and M.S. degrees. Her career included positions as Assistant Director of the Reading and Learning Center and Clinical Supervisor in the graduate program of reading, both at Adelphi. Mrs. Dieterich was also an Adjunct Professor of Reading at Nassau Community College for more than 25 years, retiring at age 86.
