Anne Regina Cirenza (McCarthy) was born on September 24, 1955 in Oceanside, New York and passed away peacefully, with her husband and sons by her side, on April 30, 2022 in Garden City, New York.

Gina, as she was known to her friends and family, spent her childhood years in Malverne, New York, attending Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School and graduating from Malverne High School in 1973.  She obtained a nursing degree from Molloy College in 1977.  While attending Molloy College, she worked at Franklin General Hospital in Valley Stream, NY, where she met her husband, Michael.  After getting married at Our Lady of Lourdes on August 26, 1979 New York, Gina relocated to Ithaca, New York where Michael completed his degree at Cornell.  While in Ithaca, Gina worked as a supervisor at Tompkins County Medical Center.  Upon Michael’s graduation, Gina and Michael moved back to New York and ultimately settled in Garden City, NY, where they raised their three boys Matthew, Michael, and Stephen.

Gina worked as an emergency room nurse at Long Island Jewish Hospital until the birth of her children, and ultimately concluded her nursing career while working at the Suffolk County Health Department.

Outside of work, Gina was a caring daughter, sister, and mother, and the most loyal friend there was.  She was blessed to become a grandmother in 2017, and being “Gigi” to her 5 grandchildren was the job she enjoyed most of all.  Outside of raising a family, helping others as a dedicated nurse, and doting on her grandkids, Gina enjoyed reading the paper each day, engaging in lively political debate, and taking in a quieter pace of life at her summer home in Cape Cod.

Gina was predeceased by her parents, Anne (Molloy) and Gerard McCarthy; her brother, Michael, and her sister, Maureen.  She is survived by her husband, Michael; her sons, Matthew (Caitlin), Michael (Allison), and Stephen; and her five grandchildren, Henry, Hailey, Benjamin, Colin, and Michael.  She is also survived by Gerard McCarthy, her brother.
