Phyllis Ann Kelly, 80, of Stony Brook, New York, passed away peacefully on March 23rd, 2023.
Phyllis was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 9, 1943. She graduated from Carey High School, Franklin Square, New York and continued on to receive an Associate’s Degree from Suffolk Community College.
Phyllis was married to Robert Kelly (deceased December 13, 1999). Phyllis was the wonderful mother to Thomas Kelly, Michael Kelly and Kerrianne Kelly Caldwell.
Phyllis worked in roles of increasing responsibility for Chemical Bank, first as an administrator and ultimately as a Vice President and regional manager responsible for 7 banks. Upon retiring, she went to culinary school, graduating from The Institute of Culinary Education in New York. After graduating she decided to focus her cooking skills towards her growing group of grandchildren while joining KPMG as an executive assistant, a role she enjoyed for over 10 years.
She enjoyed gardening, playing Mahjong with her friends, kayaking, visiting her grandchildren and preparing wonderful meals for whomever she could. She was also actively involved in the Three Village Garden Club
Phyllis is survived by Thomas, Michael and his spouse Debbie, Kerrianne and her spouse Troy, Eight wonderful grandchildren Taylor, Allison, Nicholas, Robert, Christopher, Grace, John and Michael, her brother Michael Chiavetta and his wife Patricia, her nephew Michael Chiavetta Jr and many other wonderful family and friends.
Phyllis is preceded in death by her mother and father, Vincent and Adeline Chiavetta, her former husband, Robert Kelly and Tom’s wife Catherine Royse Kelly .
The funeral service will be held at the Church of Saint Anne, 35 Dartmouth Street, Garden City, NY 11530 on Friday, March 31 at 10am
Visitation will be held at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home 1201 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530 Thursday, March 30th – 4-8pm
Burial will follow the funeral at Cemetery of the Holy Rood, 111 Old Country Road, Westbury, NY
