Terence “Terry” Francis Cooke passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026, at the age of 91, leaving behind a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet strength.

Born on February 17, 1935, in the Bronx, New York, Terry carried his Irish heritage with pride. He loved sharing stories of his childhood and of his parents’ journey from Ireland, often with a twinkle in his eye and a knowing laugh. Predeceased by his parents, Terry Cooke and Mary (Halloran) Cooke, he grew up an only child and, together with his wife Anne, built the large, close-knit family he cherished most.

A graduate of Iona College, Terry built a distinguished career at Brown Brothers Harriman ultimately serving as Head of Operations. He also was proud to have served in the Fighting 69th Reserves and approached both work and life with integrity.

Deeply devoted to his Catholic faith, Terry prayed the rosary often, especially for those in need. His faith was constant and quietly guiding.

He married his beloved wife, Anne Marie Hyland, on February 10, 1968, and together they raised their family in Garden City, New York, with cherished time spent in Naples, Florida; East Quogue, New York; and Stratton, Vermont. Whether at the beach, on the ski slopes, or around the dinner table, he was happiest surrounded by his children and grandchildren. He took immense pride in each of his grandchildren and followed their lives closely, always eager to hear their stories and celebrate their accomplishments.

Terry is survived by his devoted wife Anne; his twin daughters Alison Palmer and Jennifer Ritter; his son Terry Cooke; his grandchildren Jack, Ryan, Annie, Will, Mollie, Grace, Anna, Terence, and Phoebe; his sons-in-law Dave Palmer and Curt Ritter; and his daughter-in-law Catherine Cooke.

Terry lived by a simple truth: it’s not where you live, but how you live. He lived well — with steadiness, humor, and love.
