Louise M. O’Donovan, age 80, of Port Washington, New York, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at Parker Jewish Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family. 

Louise is survived by her devoted husband, James J. O’Donovan; her cherished daughters, Christine O’Donovan and Patricia Schanstra; her beloved son-in-law, Carl Schanstra; and her treasured grandchildren, Andrew Schanstra, John Mone, Autumn Schanstra, Jayden Mone, James Mone, Jace Mone and Jax Mone. She is also survived by her dear brother Thomas Casal. 

A dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Louise’s greatest joy was her family. She spent many years as a loving stay-at-home mom and later worked as a teacher’s assistant, where her patience and kindness touched many young lives. Louise enjoyed playing mah-jongg, canasta, and bingo, and she loved to travel and share new experiences with those closest to her. 

Visitation will be held at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, NY on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm, and Tuesday, April 21, 2026, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at The Church of Saint Joseph, 135 5^th Street, Garden City, NY, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 9:45am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Louie’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Louise will be remembered for her warmth, humor, and generosity of spirit. Her love and kindness live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
