Obituary

Agnes Anne Napolitano (née Lynch), 91, of Garden City, NY, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 10, 2026.

Known affectionately to those closest to her as “AA,” Agnes was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She lived with grace, wit, elegance, and an unmistakable zest for life.

Born on April 16, 1935, in Queens, NY, to John and Agnes (Warren) Lynch, Agnes graduated from John Adams High School in 1953. In the years that followed, she built a career as a jewelry buyer for the esteemed Alice Caviness, bringing the same discerning eye and sense of style to her work that she carried throughout her life.

A resident of Garden City for more than 60 years, Agnes was a devoted Catholic and faithful parishioner of Saint Joseph’s Church, where her faith served as a cornerstone of her life. She was the loving wife of her late husband, Peter Napolitano, and together they built a family rooted in warmth, loyalty, and laughter.

Those who knew AA knew they were in for a good time. Sharp-witted and endlessly humorous, she could light up a room without trying. She was fiercely independent, progressive in her thinking, and deeply caring — a rare and wonderful combination. She loved Frank Sinatra, a well-played hand of bridge, a lively game of Mahjong, the finer things in life, and the sun-soaked shores of Greece, which held a special place in her heart.

Agnes is survived by her two children, Peter and Nina; her three grandchildren, Peter, Delia, and Thomas; Caroline, who held a special place in her heart and lovingly knew her as Grandma; her beloved nieces and nephews; and all whose lives she touched along the way. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter Napolitano, and her sister, Margaret Baier.

AA lived 91 years fully and on her own terms. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 15, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, NY 11530. A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 16, at 9:45 a.m. at Saint Joseph’s Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Agnes’s memory to Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York.
