Donna (Cannizzo) Dempsey, 65, of Garden City, New York, passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and educator whose kindness and dedication touched countless lives.

A retired teacher and former tutor, Donna devoted her life to helping others learn and grow. She had a natural gift for teaching and a deep sense of patience, which made her a guiding light to her students and all those she mentored.

Donna will be remembered for her warmth, strength, and unwavering love for her family. She found her greatest joy in time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren, as well as with her beloved dogs, Luna and Finn. She also cherished time at her vacation home in Myrtle Beach, where she created lasting memories filled with laughter and love.

Donna is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Daniel Dempsey; her children, Katherine (Clayton) Buckley, Christina (Kevin) Proctor, and Daniel Dempsey Jr.; and her cherished grandchildren, Beckham Proctor (1½ years old), Braxton Buckley (10 months old), and a third grandson expected in August, whom she already loved deeply.

Donna’s love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A service to celebrate Donna’s life will be held at Fairchild Sons on Friday, May 1, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
