Sally W. Odell passed away peacefully on June 7th , 2026 at the age of 95. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, she attended P.S. 152 and later received a scholarship to the Berkeley Institute in Park Slope, which is now known as the Berkeley Carroll School. In 1945 her family moved to Garden City, NY, where she would graduate from GCHS in 1949. Upon graduating, she then went to Blackstone College in Virginia, a historic and private school for young women. Sally later found employment in New York City, working as an executive secretary for the American Can Company for 11 years. She met William G. Odell through a church “Twenties Club” and later married him in 1961. Their union lasted 64 years, until his death in November of last year at the age of 93. They had four children; William Jr., Robert (Mary), Richard and Carolyn (Paul). Sally was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother (Andrew, James and John) and a treasured friend and neighbor. Her sweet demeanor always shone through, no matter
what she endured. A lover of photography, she created numerous photo albums documenting all stages of life and familial milestones. Sally was also an avid dog lover and was seldom without a pet. She especially loved Boston Terriers but would lavish any dog she met in the neighborhood with her time and attention.
