Tracey adored flowers; however, donations in Tracey’s name may instead be made to the Central Park Conservancy or the American Heart Association.
Tracey Marie Tetro passed away unexpectedly at her home on September 6, 2025, at the age of 68. The eldest daughter of the late Thomas Tetro and the late Anita Tetro of Oyster Bay, New York, Tracey was born in Brooklyn, New York, grew up in Oyster Bay and lived in Manhattan.
Tracey graduated from Skidmore College in 1979 and developed a career in Manhattan’s luxury fashion industry which spanned more than 30 years, including B. Altman & Co., Gregor Simmons and her own clientele, domestic and international. A woman of tremendous beauty and style, Tracey’s love for gardening, cooking and especially baking, reflected her delight in creating beauty, her joyful spirit and zest for life. She was an avid fitness devotee and a regular attendee at the Met, the theatre and events at Central Park, NYAC and throughout the City with her Pilates Ladies, Theatre Group and relatives.
One of Tracey’s passions was creating a color drenched flower conservancy on the deck of her Upper West Side Manhattan apartment, which showcased spectacular multi-tiered displays of her favorite annuals and a formidable basil selection, to the delight of all her neighbors.
Tracey had a deep love for her family reflected in her unwavering participation in the large family gatherings held for every holiday, birthday, wedding, shower and just because. She made them even more memorable with her presence, her huge smile and easy laughter, and fanciful contributions to the dessert table.
Tracey is survived by her sister, Valerie Tetro, her brother-in-law Raul Nelson, and a multitude of cousins and friends. Her absence will leave a huge hole and she will be greatly missed.
