I first met Don at H&C during my mid-semester internship in 1979. Don was a mentor and we immediately became fast friends. While we only worked together for 2.5 years we stayed in contact and met for lunch, dinners, Giants football games and played softball together. I was so thrilled when he met Eileen and with Kathy the four of us would spend many happy times together. I was so honored to be asked by Don to stand at their wedding as a groomsman. My job transfer to Atlanta made keeping up with each other difficult but Don always reached out for dinner when he traveled to Atlanta while a DLJ. I was happy that we were all able to reconnect on some of our trips back to NY while sadly understanding some of their life’s challenges. Eileen was a tower of strength and her love of Don and her family was such an inspiration. My prayers are with Eileen, Tom, Brian, Erin and Ryan and I know God will wrap his arms around them and comfort them at this time. I know Don and Eileen’s many good friends will be supporting the family also. God had taken one of the good ones to be with him. I will never forget his kindness and support to a young college intern.

I didn’t know Don, but I’m grateful to call his son, Brian, a close and cherished friend. Reading these words, it explains a lot of what I’ve come to know and appreciate in my friend, Brian: a rock-solid fortitude; a foundation in love and justice; a profound sense of ethics and dignity.

    Rest in Peace.

I worked with Don in the 90s, during his Wall Street years. He was a great colleague, smart, collaborative and always supportive. More importantly, he was always a kind and caring friend. A true gentleman, and a great guy. May he rest in peace. Sincere condolence to his family and loved ones.

Don was the thinking man’s sports fan. No other kid on the block knew as much about sports than Don. Whether it was baseball, hockey or basketball, Don knew the games we played together because he read. Because he read, he knew more than the other guys knew about the topic that was being discussed. I remember going to the movies with him, to see the film—“Safe at Home,” which stared Mickey Mantel and Roger Maris. He was a Mantel fan and me, of course favored the quiet Maris. But you couldn’t help admire Don’s opinion because it was based on something solid. He read it in the sports pages. It was this kind of preparation when discussing anything sports related that made him someone special and whom, I will never forget. So these are my personal rememberances that make me want to say—thanks for the memories. God bless you dear friend. 🙏❤️

I did not know this man other than the fact that we both attended Christ the king HS at different years; but after reading about him, I wish I could be more like him in his faith and dedication to family. May he rest in peace.
