Kenny was a real gentleman, funny and sincere...which are qualities that are lacking these days. I will miss his positive attitude and big smile as well as his concern for others. A terrible loss.

Me and Kenneth were child hood buddies..Trick or Treating...couldn't wait for THE real first Snow...our Mothers made us ACTUALLY wear our gloves..
Then we'd grab our Sleds and head to the Golf Course on the OTHER SIDE of Edgemeer Park...to sleigh ride...
That was VERY cool. And much fun.
    Rest in Peace my friend.

Lenny and I are more than sorry for the loss of Ken and our sympathy goes out to Pat, Jack, and Kylie. I talk about Ken to many people because I have loved and admired him throughout my career working for him over 37 years. He will always be part of my past and I will hold dear and find comfort in all the wonderful memories I have. I'm sure if we put his journals together and write a biography it would be a most inspiring worthwhile read because he was a great entrepreneur and marketing genius not to mention Husband, Father, Friend, Businessman, and last but not least Boss. I miss his " Good Morning Teri George " very much. Whenever I went into his office to ask a question, I came out with 3 mission impossibles because he knew I would get them done. He will always be remembered, not far from my mind.

Kenny was a great man my Father worked for him for years and when ever he brought my sisters and I into work with him Kenny always made us feel welcome, I will always remember when our families went to Split Rock together.

Ken was one of the most “street smart” businesspeople we ever knew. Harvard MBAs did not hold a candle to him. He treasured his family and friends. He loved being involved with business and was super successful. It was such a great feeling to have a customer and his family became personal family friends of ours. We appreciated how humble and helpful he was. We wonder if his renowned personal journal could become a guide to life for the world. We send our innermost condolences to the family.

No one can explain The talent that made Ken Th giant of a man in the security industry.
He blazeda trail of firsts when our industry was in its formative years. No rules , no guidelines just raw talent to take a concept of protecting lives ad property to the next level. What he and his dear friend and partner Joseph Ingegno did in the years 1979- 1986 was unprecedented. His life is a testament to the true enterpeur spirit. He along with Joe shaped the security industry with concepts like advertising on cable in 1985, doing home shows to display your company's desire to serve and protect the important things in you life. Ken and Joe brought the concept of security to the public with the partnership with PC Richard in their retail stores. We all should honor this inovator and and be thankful for his contribution to our industry. May he be loved and remembered as a Giant in the security industry

Ken Mara was one of the warmest and most gregarious business leaders on Long Island. I met him 7 years ago when I began to provide consulting services to his company. I very quickly valued our friendship over our business relationship. I admired him a great deal and found it inspiring that he always tried to do the right thing by everyone he met. He has an amazing family. You can judge a man by the family and friends he leaves behind. I know in these crazy times of COVID19 a lot of people may show up to pay their respects, but there will be hundreds if not thousands more who may be forced to stay away due to social distancing reasons, but will also feel that we all have suffered a profound loss.

    To Pat, Jack, and Kylie,
Please know that Ken was one of the most influential people in my life and he was always respected by the people that knew him. His great passion was the Deal and it was only surpassed by his family and friends.
May he rest in peace and look down upon you with his smile while he watches over you from above as he always did while he was with us.
    He will be missed.

Kenny will be greatly missed-he was a generous and kind person who will never be forgotten. He touched others and made a difference for those around him. His easy going good nature, optimism, and warm smile will always be remembered!
He had strong intuition and enjoyed being creative in his negotiations. He was a great role model and had integrity in all that he did and was well respected.
Kenny cultivated meaningful friendships that lasted a life time. I don't say that lightly, these friendships that he valued have been for over 50 years and more!
Kenny was a fun person to be around, and we all know he made everyone feel special.
I am grateful for all of the wonderful memories of Kenny which I will treasure always.
My sincere condolences to the Mara family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Pat, Jack and Kylie, We are at such a loss for words and only wish we could help in some way to ease the sadness you all feel. Know that we truly share your loss, along with so many other friends and family. That in itself, is a true testament to the wonderful man Kenny was. Don has so many stories of the garageband days, Joe and Kenny being roadies and most recently the band reunions. We all share so many good times and memories up at Mt. Snow. We have all been touched by Kenny's true kindness and genuine love and interest in others. Always asking first, "how is everything going?" and truly wanting to know. He was one of a kind and will forever be missed. All our love, Don, Jacky, Jenn and Kristin

Ken was a great friend and colleague that I will miss. He was a great Entrepeneur while always remaining a gentleman. I met Ken and Pat many years ago under very tough circumstances that immediately reflected how honorable of a man he was. Too much detail for a post but detail worth understanding and that’s why Ken and I remained friends over the years. We shared a variety of common ground and right to the end Ken stayed in touch. When I heard from Ken a few weeks ago by telephone and text at a point where he may have known how close he was to the end, he was upbeat and inviting me to hang out in his yard with him and his daughter. May our friend Rest In Peace and may his family hold on to his legacy that touched many.

We loved Kenny and are crushed he is no longer with us. Over the past 20 years, we have watched and admired the incredible companies Kenny built and most importantly, the wonderful family he had. He loved Pat, Jack and Kylie so much and when not around them, raved constantly about how proud he was. As we sat around last night and talked about Kenny, we both laughed at our stories about him and cried about how much we are going to miss him.

Kenny was a great friend, husband, father, drummer and businessman. I met him in 8th. grade at the Junior High. He was very industrious even at that age. We would make candles at Christmas and sell them to our families and friends. I was a roadie for the band "Jester" back in the day and we had many great nights together all around Long Island and Fire Island. Great times and memories. Farewell my friend, until we meet again. Say hello to Richie Smollon for me when you get to heaven.
    God bless you Connie.

Yesterday morning, the world lost a wonderful human being and a dear friend, Kenny Mara....In these turbulent times with so much uncertainty, unrest, lack of kindness and respect for each other, we lost a "ray of sunshine"....After years of a courageous battle against cancer, Kenny passed away peacefully...He was a devoted, loving, and caring husband, father and friend...Kenny maintained his wonderful sense of humor up to the very end....Despite his success in the business world, he remained humble and helpful to those of us who needed and appreciated his kindness, friendship and support....Kenny left us way too early, but I know that God has a place for him...I pray that Pat, Jack and Kylie will find strength through God, friends and family in this most difficult time....Rest in peace Kenny....
