Obituary

Patrick William Curry, 61, of Cathedral Gardens, New York, passed on May 1, 2026, following a hard-fought battle with Glioblastoma.

Patrick lived a life of dedicated service to his family, neighborhood, and church. He believed “Civility is contagious!”.

He was born on December 1, 1964, in Syosset, New York, as the sixth of eight siblings. He graduated from Garden City High School as its senior class president in 1983 and swiftly graduated Boston University, Magna Cum Laude, in 3 years. Following his completion of New York Law School, with honors in 1989, he joined the law firm Rosenthal and Curry where he worked closely with his late father, John (Jack) Curry, and subsequently, his brother, Thomas Curry.

Patrick held a deep love for God and was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection for over 30 years. There, he served as President of the Church Council from 2004-2006, as well as; taught Sunday School, participated in Men's Ministry, and Fellowship. From the Bible, Patrick learned two major lessons: he himself had value, and everyone else has value as well. This important lesson, which he attributed to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, motivated him to share the Gospel and serve others for God’s Glory.

He implored the importance of the fruits of the Spirit as enumerated in Galatians 5: 22-23. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,  gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”

Patrick was awarded the inaugural Patrick Curry Legend Award, in 2026, for his lifetime achievement and contributions to the East Meadow Chamber of Commerce. As President of the EMCC, he focused on recruitment and brought in the most new members of any year previous and opened Veterans Memorial Park. In 2025, Patrick was honored by the Salvation Army as Volunteer of The Year for his unwavering support to their organization as a board member. He organized the Annual Benefit Concert, a major fundraiser to support youth services in Nassau County. Also in 2025, He received the New York District Kiwanis Everyday Hero Award for his decades of service. With Kiwanis, he spearheaded the Civility Campaign which provided every graduating senior of Garden City High School with a copy of George Washington's Rules of Civility. As Garden City Kiwanis President, Patrick chaired and emceed the cherished St. Patrick's Day Luncheon, at the Garden City Hotel, for 33 years. It is the largest fundraising event for the Garden City Kiwanis which supports children’s programs. Patrick also served on the board for the Lutheran Counseling Center where he was honored in 2022. He cared deeply for his neighbors and was a common sight at any charitable event.

In addition to his family and community, he held a deep loyalty to his Jets and Mets; leading the Bring Our Jets Home Y2k8 initiative.

Patrick is survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Susan (Suki) Curry; his children, Patrick, Kirsten, Arielle and son-in-law Gideon An, and Taylor; his two beloved grandchildren, Ephraim and Manasseh An. He is also survived by his siblings; Sean and Maria Curry, Susan and Kevin Heaphy, Kathleen and Ross Holt, Kerry and Edwin Keusey, Kevin and Christine Curry, Thomas and Jennifer Curry(Siaca), and Heather and Peter Damore.

Patrick is reunited in heaven with his parents John (Jack) and Ann Curry.

Patrick was supported by a massive community of family, friends, church members, and neighbors; through financial contributions, home cooked dinners, and home visits. The family would like to thank all who supported him and his family in his final days.

Patrick will be remembered at a wake held at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home in Garden City on Wednesday, May 6th from 4-8pm. A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, May 7th at 6pm at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Garden City with a reception to follow. There will be a private burial in Locust Valley Cemetery.
