Robert Chlupsa peacefully passed away at home on July 17, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia, their five children, Andrea (Chris), Robert (Tara), Doran (Jaime), Elizabeth (Amin), Nora (Brandon), and their twelve grandchildren that he loved. They are Riley, Tanner, Olivia, Connor, Madeline, Brody, Robert, Harper, Lucas, Margot, Morgan, and Quinn.
He is also survived by is brother Henry (Phyllis) and many in laws, nieces and nephews.
Robert was born and raised in Manhattan, New York. He graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School and then went on to Manhattan College. He was recruited to play professional basketball and baseball. He ultimately decided on baseball and spent two years with the St. Louis Cardinals.
After his time playing baseball, he and Patricia settled on Long Island to raise their family in Garden City where they have been for 48 years. Robert worked in sales and marketing until retiring in 2021.
He was an involved member of the Garden City Casino and Tennis Club. His love of sports spilled into coaching Garden City Little League and CYO Basketball for many years. He also played softball and platform tennis for Garden City Rec. He was also seen in the summers playing softball in Breezy Point with the Jamaica Walk men representing Ronan Paint.
He will be loved, remembered, and admired by his family and the many kids he coached throughout the years.
